Mushroom Grow Box

About this site

Mushroom Grow Box is published by the team behind Dutch-Smart, a smartshop in the Netherlands that sells magic mushroom grow kits and growing supplies. The product links on this site go to that shop. When you buy through one of those links, we earn from the sale.

We say this first because it should colour how you read everything else. The site exists because most grow kit information online is either a short leaflet in the box or shop copy written to sell the next kit. We wanted one place that explains how these kits work and what goes wrong, with sources, including the parts that do not help sales: that contaminated kits belong in the bin, that strain names say little about strength, and that in many countries the mushrooms a kit produces are illegal to possess.

How the pages are put together

  • Growing conditions come from published cultivation literature and from the instructions that kit producers print with their kits. Where a number is a producer's recommendation and not a measurement, the page says so.
  • Facts about the chemistry of the mushrooms, contamination organisms and drying come from scientific papers and university extension services. They are linked where we use them.
  • Legal notes are based on the law texts and on public information from organisations such as the Jellinek in the Netherlands. Each legal section carries the date it was checked.
  • We do not publish testimonials, reviews or grow reports from people who do not exist.
  • We make no medical or health claims of any kind.

Every page shows when it was last updated. Laws, kits and stock change. If you spot an error, Dutch-Smart's customer service can pass it on to us.

Who is behind the shop

The Dutch-Smart mascot, a lion with a light bulb

Dutch-Smart ships from the Netherlands and only sells to adults. The shop's lion mascot is the one you also see at the bottom of every page here.
